The (former) USHGA has decided to make instructor liability insurance mandatory. For reasons already stated, that is not a good idea and secondly, they are arrogantly interfering in our business in a manner that has nothing to do with our providing good instruction. We don't need people in our lives mandating that we pay protection. Time to quit teaching. If by some miracle they change their position in the next few months, we will resume taking on new students but once our hills start getting overgrown, the time and effort involved in getting things back into shape will be prohibitive so we will be permanently out of the teaching profession and simply be selling gliders and accessories.
It hurts but can't stop progress no matter how ill conceived it may be.
